Emorn Soisuwan has drawn on a lifetime of work in education -- 17
years as a teacher and an additional 20 as an educational supervisor
-- in developing programs for Nirut Chamsuwan Studios.
Ms. Soisuwan graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Prasommith
College of Education in 1953, majoring in social studies. She later
received a master's degree from Srinakarinthavirot University in
Bang Saen with a major in educational administration.
Ms.
Soisuwan was a level 9 supervisor in the Thai Ministry of Education's
Office of National Primary Education Commission (ONPEC), applying
her expertise especially in matters pertaining to research and the
improvement of social studies teaching.
One
of Ms. Soisuwan's many innovations to the Thai educational system
is the "10 Golden Steps," a specialized approach to teaching
social science. This included the development and production of
workbooks and teachers' guides that have been used to help students
improve their skills in the composition and presentation of various
projects and theses.
In
1999, while Thailand was implementing reform and training within
its basic educational curriculum, Ms. Soisuwan was designated by
the Ministry's academic affairs department as the national trainer
of social science teachers and developed teachers' guides as part
of her tenure as chair of the social, religious and cultural key
learning areas.
Today
Ms. Soisuwan still contributes to the state of Thailand's educational
system, serving on a committee to determine the scope of the religious
curriculum. She is also traveling the country continuing her work
as trainer to teachers of religious studies as well as authoring
texts on Buddhism for the primary education level.
Ms.
Soisuwan resides in Bangkok, Thailand and enjoys traveling the globe
to experience and learn from different cultures.
