Learning
doesn't have to be boring . . .
Run tells the story of Toy
and Kwan, two Thai siblings who find themselves on an incredible
adventure which takes them from the streets of Bangkok to
the alien landscapes of a distant world. On their own after
the disappearance of their mother, the pair finds themselves
faced with deadly robots, otherworldly creatures and mysterious
allies with superhuman powers.
Written and drawn by
a Thai native, Run brings an exciting, modern approach to
Thai-produced comicbooks. Run aims to inspire a new generation
to engage their imaginations in crafting mythologies we as
a nation will be proud to call our own. The eight issue series
is especially tailored to domestic audiences, with easily
identifiable characters and details, but can be enjoyed by
readers of all ages and backgrounds.
Designed as a reading
supplement for students wishing to better familiarize themselves
with the English language, Run is what writer/illustrator
Nirut Chamsuwan
calls "education in disguise." Having spent many
years illustrating comicbooks in the United States, Mr. Chamsuwan
deeply appreciates the importance of good storytelling. He
is also well aware of the necessity of reinforcing language
learned in classrooms with supplementary materials. Supplementary
reading is often a chore because it is geared primarily toward
education at the expense of entertainment, and as a result
readers, especially the young, are not motivated to pursue
such reading on their own. With vocabulary common to curricular
word lists, Mr. Chamsuwan has carefully crafted a story meant
to capture the reader's imagination while offering a healthy
dose of useful conversational English at the same time.
Each issue of Run includes extra sections
featuring character profiles, vocabulary lists, review questions
and interactive exercises specially created for this series.
